BIO:
Karen Sharp spent 12 years as a Small Business Development Center Senior Consultant and two years at the Houston Community College Open for Business program.  Since 2007, she has been adjunct faculty in the business departments at Lone Star College and University of Houston – Downtown.  She teaches critical thinking, career preparation, professional selling, business communications, and Intro to Business.  
Karen started the chamber’s Business Success Series in 2010, later joining forces with the Chamber to educate chamber members in important and useful business concepts to help them grow their businesses.
 
She is the lead advisor and judge for the Houston Community College Business Plan Competition.  She is a frequent speaker in the small business training programs offered at HCC and is mod faculty in the Goldman Sachs 10K Small Business Program.
 
Karen started Proforma Impact Promotions in 1997, where she manages her clients’ brands for effective promotions in the areas of promotional products, corporate apparel, print and website development.
 
Prior to owning her business, Karen spent 14 years in information technology as a systems analyst, project manager, and IT consultant and sales representative.  
 
In her spare time, Karen enjoys golf, sewing, and time with her grandchildren.
 
Karen earned her BS in Applied Science, Systems Analysis from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio and MBA from University of Houston.
